The Zoo!

Was like a real European today – took the Metro and the tram to and from today’s two destinations: the zoo and old town. If my feet were in better shape I definitely would have tried to walk but the concierge said I should definitely take the metro and the tram and gave me very good instructions on how to get there. I didn’t get lost but did have some difficulties such as getting the right ticket from the kiosk (no English) and taking the proper direction from the Metro to get to the tram but it really was rather easy.

At the zoo exit, I saw no signs pointing to the zoo entrance  so I ended walking the long way around. I was rather annoyed but that quickly evaporated when I got in and saw there were 3 tiger cubs!!!!!!! I must have stood and watched them for two hours, totally filled up my camera card and then started shooting iPhone video. Got some great pics and video to share when I’m home but one video is already up on FB.

For most of the time I was there, a guy was also there trimming the hedges edging the exhibit. Every now and then a kids group would walk by and yell at the tigers. Twice this man yelled at the kids. Again, I don’t speak Polish but I’m pretty sure he told them to stop yelling and asked them how they would like it if they were getting yelled at. I loved that old man – in each case, the kids quickly moved on!

I didn’t see to many of the other animals after that, but it was a very nice zoo and a great day. I think I could have stayed there even longer (by the tigers) if I hadn’t filled up my camera card. Can’t wait to share the pics!
