In only 14 days I’ll be sitting comfortably in my business-class seat, winging my way to Berlin.The numbered sticky-notes on my desk – positioned so they’re always in my line of sight – are counting down the days and keeping me sane, a powerful reminder of the upcoming vacation when each work days gets insane.

I’ve made almost all the arrangements I planned to make in advance:

• Seat secured for the Hertha Berlin game on the day I arrive: check
  •  (Hertha Berlin is the local soccer team, for those of you who don’t know)
• Ticket in hand for the Berlin Philharmonic concert: check

One final item has yet to be arranged but I need to wait until I have a good sense of the weather for a given day. I’m keeping it a secret from my blog readers for now but some of my closest friends know what I’m hoping to do. It involves a road trip and I sincerely hope I can make it happen as planned– it will be spectacular! Needless to say, this blog will provide all the details at the right time – and photos too.
