It’s so lovely to be back in Berlin – I really do love it here.
The flight over was smooth and easy and my seatmate’s thighs didn’t touch mine once, unlike last year’s flight. Yay! But unfortunately there was no handsome man waiting to drive me to the hotel. No man at all, actually. I called the shuttle service and they had made a mistake and would be an hour before they could pick me up. I took a taxi and switched my transfer to take me to the airport on Monday.
When I arrived at the hotel my room was not yet ready. I took my big zoom and headed out to the zoo, hoping to capture even better tiger pics than last year. Unfortunately, no Tigers to be found! There was only a single lion in each of the big cat enclosures. I don’t know what happened to the Tigers but I was definitely disappointed. Got some other nice pics, though.
The day ended beautifully with another fabulous concert at the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Zubin Mehta. The music was fantastic and the atmosphere as enthusiastic as I remembered. I had serious trouble staying awake but managed to do so. Caught a bus and then walked back to the hotel.
The walk woke me up so I opted for dinner and had the same awesome pumpkin risotto I had last year. Sehr gut!
I’m very tired and off to bed, but happy with my Saturday in Berlin.
