Universal Language

There are some things that can be understood in many languages.

Example #1:

The little old Italian lady taking care of the public toilet in Positano didn’t speak much, if any, English. Certainly not any Asian languages either. When I left the bathroom she was trying to make two Asian ladies understand which coin they needed to use the restroom. The Italian woman was getting visibly frustrated and as I left I heard her say “imbecilicia” and I’m quite certain I know exactly what she meant. 😉

Example #2:

My driver picked me up at 3:15 for my ride to the airport. Ugh. There was hardly any traffic, of course. When we finally came up behind the first car we encountered, it was moving much more slowly than we were. My driver was right on the car’s bumper and immediately flashed his high beams. It was only one lane in our direction so I can only presume he wanted the other car to speed up. My driver took the first opportunity to pass the slower moving vehicle. As we drove by, the driver of the other car gave us that friendly, international symbol, the finger. Lol.
