Started the day with a delicious breakfast of scones, yogurt, French toast and sausage. With the food came interesting conversation with a lovely couple from Sweden. ❤️❤️
While talking with Bill and Lynne, my B&B hosts, they found out my plans to visit Sonnenburg Gardens after breakfast. Fortuitously, they had a discounted guest pass for me. And since I ended up spending 4 hours there, I’m so glad I wasn’t able to get in yesterday when my time would have been limited.
Although still too hot, there was a refreshing breeze that definitely helped.
The grounds were lovely. I can’t imagine how they must look in peak season! The mansion was huge. These were very rich people. I don’t know who first said that money can’t buy happiness, but I know that living there would have made me unceasingly happy! The grounds, the gardens, the big, old beautiful trees, the swimming pool, the porches everywhere…
Here are a few of the 330 pictures I took today, lol. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved the gardens there…I think the rock gardens were my favorite….did you get to explore the mansion? We went during a art festival and got free tours inside the mansion…so neat imagining that place in its prime back in the day
The gardens were fabulous, even past their peak. I thought the rock gardens were very cool. I did get to see the mansion. I was totally jealous of that family – green with envy of the garden, Roman bath, the spacious rooms, the porches and balconies, the trees…
