The Penguins

Friday afternoon (my last day in the Cotswolds) I returned to Bourton on the Water. Walking into the village, I decided to visit Birdland Park and Gardens, a lovely smaller zoo (for birds), and spent the afternoon there.

They have penguins, King and Humboldt, and I spent quite a bit of time of time at that exhibit, including a feeding time and zookeeper talk.

See below for penguin pics (and video) and a few other birds as well. Enjoy!

A Pied Avocet giving me the stink eye
This King Penguin was asleep, standing up.
See? The eyes are closed
Another ‘what are you looking at?’ picture, penguin style
Flamingo eyes are different, albino-looking
I don’t remember the name of this bird but it was in the Out of Africa section of the park. 3 more months until Botswana!
A Humboldt Penguin
This is Frank the Penguin, who was molting at the time. The zookeeper said he was popular with the lady penguins.

Two beautiful macaws, uncaged

The King Penguins, especially, are so graceful in the water
