Shinde Footsteps

Yesterday (Sunday…it’s been very easy to lose track of what day it is!) we transferred from the Voyager houseboat on the Chobe River. We had a short photo outing on the river and then made our way to Shinde Footsteps bush camp via Range Rover, plane (Cessna 12-seater), and boat. The “boat” part was an unplanned (ish) addition, but such fun! We wound our way through the mostly narrow and shallow channels of the Delta (the Okavanga Delta) on small, low boats, dealing with roots and limbs getting caught in the branches several times. (Sue, our guide, dealt with them; he did a great job!)

It was a very long, but full and exciting day! And very hot – close to 110 degrees – and the machines (by which I mean my phone and laptop) were also overheating. That, along with the slow wifi, made for a lot of challenges in trying to download, view and edit images. For now, then, I’ll share some videos from the transport portion of the day.

I am truly ‘in the bush’ now!

Enjoy!

A lovely little grasshopper joined us on the plane, perhaps visiting relatives in the Delta (😉)
A bee during takeoff; not a great video, and I don’t know why the phone saw the propeller like that – I couldn’t see the blades with my eye – but still the video gives you some feeling of the experience.
