After only seeing 1 lion, in low light, in Chobe, and none in the Delta, it was wonderful to see 10-11 lions in the Kalahari, including 4 lion cubs. π»π»π»π»
Here, for a start, are some pictures of the male lions seen at Kalahari.
Enjoy!
Known as Blondie, this male is the patriarch of the pride. Here he was relaxing after feasting on a dead kudu.βSub-adultβ male #2, seen very early morning walking along one of the concession roads, escorting Granny, the grandmother of the pride.#2, checking us out while waiting for Granny to catch up. #2, waiting a different time for Granny to catch up. βSub-adultβ (aka teenage) male #1 sitting on a termite hill, eye level with the vehicle. #1, emerging out of the bush in the early light of sunrise. #1 kicking up some sand as he walks in the road.#1 waiting attentively while his Mama scopes out a potential killing situation; he and his sister sat beautifully while the Mama evaluated the situation. Though it looked dicey for a bit, ultimately no animals were killed or eaten by the lions this time.
