Tuesday in the Cotswolds

After almost 40 years of driving on the right side, I can assure you that, for me, at least, driving on the left is wrong. Ugh! Today was a tough day of driving through innumerable traffic circles, one after the other, which, with the whole ‘wrong side’ thing, was mildly traumatic. Yes, I went the wrong way in a circle, stopping two lanes of traffic coming the opposite way. I calmly waited until someone paused long enough to let me reverse and turnaround, no harm no foul, a few looks from other drivers, but could have been much worse. In my defense, the road signs didn’t match so I turned on the one with the right name, which was the wrong direction.

I don’t normally drive on my vacations, but you can’t get around in the Cotswolds without a car. Hopefully tomorrow’s adventure is more about the destinations and less about the stupid traffic circles! Besides the stupid circles, I am getting better at driving on the WRONG side.

Today I visited Bibury and Cirencester. Bibury is a tiny village known for a beautiful row of preserved National Trust cottages. But when small villages have a lot of visitors, it’s just much less charming, lol.

Cirencester is an old market town, a genuine town with more places for people to disperse, less crowded! And it has a lovely park.

Here are pics from today. Enjoy!

A different row of beautiful stone cottages, with only this lone cyclist in the shot.
A bee doing its bee thing.
This lady in bright yellow was not moving and I didn’t want to wait for her to leave, so here she is in my picture of Swan Inn.
The site of the ancient ruins from the Roman Empire-era city gate in Cirencester.
A colorful rabbit statue on the Abbey Grounds behind St John the Baptist Church.
A view of the back…
…and the front of St John the Baptist Church.
Another rabbit, this time in the restaurant where I ate lunch.
A lovely, large tree in Cirencester Park.
A row of stone homes just outside the gates of Cirencester Park, at Cecily Hill Gates.
