Bandhavgarh – Crested Hawk

During the afternoon of our all-day game drive, my final day at Bandhavgarh National Park (India), a crested hawk landed next to a watering hole in front of us. Immediately, a local lapwing protested his presence, dive-bombing him to discourage any mischief. After a few passes by the lapwing, the hawk reared up and made it clear that he wasn’t going to tolerate more harassment. The lapwing left him alone, the hawk got his drink and then flew off. Photos below for verification. 😉 Enjoy!

I don’t know how the hawk twisted himself like this; it didn’t appear that his claws left the ground but he turned himself completely around.
