More pictures from Schloss Charlottenburg – a beautiful, formerly royal property in the Charlottenburg section of Berlin. The grounds are vast and you can easily lose yourself in them, forgetting altogether that you’re in the middle of Berlin. Enjoy!
This part of the building is now used as a museum. Based on a poster in the doorway I think they also use it for orchestral concerts and other cultural events. How very European…
This next picture is one of my favorite shots although I still can’t tell for certain whether or not it’s just slightly blurred. I love the reflections in the water, the way the curve of the purple flower on the left perfectly mimics the curve of the bridge, the swan swimming just beneath the couple on the bridge. I only wish the sky had been blue instead of hazy with some fluffy white clouds – that would have been perfect!

A second, smaller palace on the grounds – if I’m remembering correctly it was called the Belvedere but I could be wrong about that. I’d certainly settle for the smaller palace – would still be way more room than I’ll ever have in a residence. Oh those royals, so rich, so spoiled…
In the last year or two I’ve become fascinated with lamp posts. I liked the way this one looked with the larger palace in the background.
This lamppost reminded me of something although I still haven’t quite remembered what – possibly a scene from the movie Gaslight but I’m not certain. In any case, I just love it’s dramatic appeal.

So totally different than the castles in the southern part of Germany that I explored this past summer during my trip….these castles almost look ‘new’ in comparison! 🙂
That’s true, Andrea, but I think I prefer the more romantic kind, like Neuschwannstein (sp?)
